A common theme seen throughout these different submissions is that information is being utilized in a number of different ways to include as a weapon to influence, data to analyze, as part of a narrative, to spy, to protect, for intel, or in combat systems. What these disparate authors are all emphasizing in their papers is the power of information, and how it can be used to attack as well as defend. Everyone intuitively understands that knowledge is power, and that access to data is the key to success. These papers also cover in their own ways how information warfare is not limited to the military or government spheres but instead encompasses pretty much every activity of human existence. The breadth and depth of their topics clearly show how this element of power has grown over time.
On another note, the Journal of Information Warfare is tied pretty tightly with two academic conferences that occur every year, both run by Academic Conferences International, https://www.academic-conferences.org/conferences/. The International Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security (ICCWS) will be held on 26 - 27 March 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa, https://www.academic-conferences.org/conferences/iccws/, while the European Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security (ECCWS) will be held on 27 - 28 June 2024, in Jyväskylä , Finland.
